Mujica signed a minor league contract with the Nationals back in January and never wound up making it to Washington. The 27-year-old righty, who last appeared in the majors for the Rockies during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, posted a 5.08 ERA in 24 appearances (one start) this year in the Nationals’ system.

Mujica made a pair of relief appearances during the truncated 2020 season with the Rockies. The 26-year-old righty posted a solid 4.11 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 58/18 K/BB ratio across 61 1/3 innings (41 appearances) last season between Double-A and Triple-A in the Yankees’ system. He’ll provide the Nationals with some extra relief depth in the upper minors.

The 25-year-old righty posted a disastrous 8.77 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 85/26 K/BB ratio across 91 1/3 innings last year at Triple-A Albuquerque. It’s possible the Yankees see some potential here and he’ll open the 2022 campaign at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Colorado reinstated Yonathan Daza from the injured list on Sunday and optioned Mujica to clear a space on the active roster. The right-hander has not fared well at the major league level this season, posting a 12.46 ERA offer 4 1/3 innings (six earned runs) with just one strikeout.

Mujica has made the trip from Albuquerque to Denver more than any person should in 2021. He’s a backend bullpen option while he’s up. For now.

Mujica heads back to the Isotopes to make room for Matt Adams after Adams was activated off the 10-day injured list. The right-hander has an unhealthy 12.46 ERA by allowing six runs in his 4 1/3 innings with the club.

Mujica has worked as a starter in Triple-A with a 6.94 ERA, but he’s likely to work in the bullpen with the Rockies. He’s allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings (12.46 ERA), and won’t get many high-leverage chances for Colorado while up. He shouldn’t, anyway.

Mujica spent a few days in the major leagues and didn’t make an appearance out of the Rockies’ bullpen. The 24-year-old righty made his big-league debut last season and should get another opportunity at some point soon.
