Royals re-signed RHP Julio Pimentel to a minor league contract.

Pimentel, 23, went 7-13 in 2009 with a 5.38 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 28 starts (157 1/3 innings) for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He’s had some arm troubles but the Royals still believe in his talent.

Pimental, 20, was 3-8 with a 5.69 ERA, 85 H and 77/45 K/BB in 74 1/3 innings for Single-A Vero Beach. Since he was signed as an outfielder, he’s still a raw product. However, he has stuff to turn into a quality reliever someday.
