Devil Rays released RHP Kevin McGlinchy.
McGlinchy had been with the Rays since the start of last season, but due to shoulder problems, he hadn’t thrown a pitch in either a major or a minor league game.

Free agent Kevin McGlinchy, who has twice had surgery to repair a torn labrum, is expected to work out for the Blue Jays and perhaps the Red Sox.
After being released by the Rays in May, McGlinchy spent time with two Atlantic League teams last season. He was a very good relief prospect before getting hurt, but he’s struggled to regain his stuff after surgery.

Cubs signed RHP Kevin McGlinchy to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Iowa.
McGlinchy, a former Braves prospect who has twice had surgery to repair a torn labrum, was 6-2 with a 2.97 ERA, 78 H and 40/25 K/BB in 75 2/3 IP for Monterrey of the Mexican League. He’s very unlikely to make it back to the majors this year, but at least he’s healthy.

Kevin McGlinchy, attempting to come back from two shoulder surgeries, is ready to compete for a job this spring.
``I’m pain-free,’' he said. ``It’s too early to tell, but I feel really good. I’ve been through enough over the last couple of years to figure out the whole rehab process, how I feel. I’m going to do everything in my power to get back this year.’' McGlinchy is quite a longshot at this point, but he’s definitely worthy watching. He looked like a potential third starter or closer when he came up with the Braves.
