McGowan

McGowan spent last season in the Mets’ minor league system and was pitching with the independent Sugar Land Skeeters so far this year. The 27-year-old is simply organizational depth for Washington.

McGowan didn’t see the field during his four-day stint in the majors. Perhaps we’ll see him again when rosters expand next month.

McGowan was up with the Mets for a few days earlier this month, but he didn’t make an appearance. The 25-year-old has a 4.06 ERA and 55/24 K/BB ratio over 62 innings in Triple-A this year.

McGowan appeared in one game with the Mets, allowing a run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. He should be back with the big league club next week when rosters expand for September.

The 25-year-old hurler has appeared in just one game for the Mets this season, allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings. He’ll be utilized in middle relief.

McGowan has had a couple of brief stints with the Mets so far, but now he’ll be up for the remainder of the regular season. The 25-year-old had a 4.85 ERA over 47 appearances in Triple-A this year and will pitch in middle relief for the Mets.

McGowan will be available out of the Mets’ bullpen for Sunday afternoon’s series finale against the Phillies. He had a 4.06 ERA and 55/24 K/BB ratio through 62 innings this season at Triple-A.

The move creates necessary 40-man roster space after the signings of Jay Bruce and Adrian Gonzalez. They’ll have to make one more move, as the roster still sits at 41. The 26-year-old McGowan pitched just under nine innings for the Mets, posting a 5.19 ERA with six walks and eight strikeouts.

McGowan was designated for assignment Thursday but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. He posted a 5.19 ERA over eight appearances for the Mets last season.
