Cardinals signed infielder Kurt Abbott to a minor league contract.
After getting released by the Twins in spring training, Abbott spent most of last season out of baseball. The Cardinals intend to go with Miguel Cairo as their primary reserve infielder and if they carry another it will be Wilson Delgado, so Abbott will only be a candidate to make the team if someone gets hurt.
