Phillies signed LHP Lachlan Wells to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old Australian southpaw spent five years in the Twins’ organization from 2015-2019 before returning to Australia and ultimately sat out the entire 2022-2023 season to step away from the game. He came back with a vengeance in 2023-2024 though, as he has compiled a stellar 0.73 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and a 46/4 K/BB ratio over 37 innings in his seven starts for the Adelaide Giants. That was enough for the Phillies to take notice and give him a minor league deal. He’ll add minor league depth for the Phillies.
