Logan Watkins went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored in a 5-1 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.
Watkins and Chris Valaika went back-to-back against Justin Masterson in the fourth inning. It was the first home run of Watkins’ major league career. The 25-year-old made the start in right field for the first game of the doubleheader, as the Cubs wanted to take it easy on Jorge Soler’s hamstring. Watkins has played all over the place in Triple-A this season and could stick as a utility player, though it probably won’t lead to much fantasy value.
