Indians LHP prospect Luis Lugo delivered 10 punch-outs over seven scoreless innings Monday in a win for High-A Lynchburg.
The 10 strikeouts matched a career-high. 63 of the left-hander’s 92 pitches on Monday went for strikes. Lugo has now won four of his last six starts with 25 strikeouts and a 3.03 ERA during that span. Predictably, he’s been a force against left-handers, limiting them to a paltry .231 average over 104 at-bats this year.

Luis Lugo suffered a loss in Sunday’s World Baseball Classic matchup against Puerto Rico, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over 2 1/3 innings.
The Indians’ prospect was just overmatched in this one as the Puerto Rican offense struck early and often. He’s expected to begin the 2017 season in Double-A.

Royals signed LHP Luis Lugo to a minor league contract.
Lugo, 24, was once a decent prospect with the Indians but most recently was relegated to pitching in the Italian League. He’s merely a depth piece.
