Luke Hudson will undergo arthroscopic surgery Friday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Hudson will miss the season while recovering.

Reds promoted Luke Hudson from Double-A Chattanooga to Triple-A Louisville.
Hudson, who missed 2003 with shoulder surgery, went 7-7 with a 3.32 ERA and 91/25 k/bb rate in 16 starts for Chattanooga. He’ll join the Reds at some point, possibly as a starter if Jose Acevedo can’t reverse his downward spiral.

Reds’ farm director Tim Naehring singled out Triple-A starter Luke Hudson and Double-A Chattanooga closer Todd Coffey as being the closest to contributing in Cincinnati.
Hudson, who was just promoted from Double-A, could replace Jose Acevedo in the rotation shortly. As for Coffey, ''His fastball’s up to 95, 96, and he has a major league ‘out’ pitch with his split-finger,’' Naehring said. ''He also has a very impressive strikeouts-to-walks ratio.’' He’s not kidding. At Chattanooga, Coffey is 4-1 with 19 saves, a 2.44 ERA, and 50/4 k/bb in 44 1/3 IP.

Luke Hudson picked up a win against the Marlins tonight after yielding three runs over six innings.
The Marlins scored three runs in the fourth without recording an RBI. Two of the runs scored on wild pitches, while the third scored on a double play ball. With three solid outings in a row, Hudson isn’t in danger of losing his rotation spot for at least a few more starts.

Luke Hudson yielded three runs and five hits in six innings tonight to pick up a win over the Brewers.
Hudson has solidified his place in the rotation with four straight decent outings. He’s still only an option in NL-only leagues when the Reds are facing weaker clubs.

Luke Hudson won a fifth straight decision by giving up three runs in six innings Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Hudson gave up eight hits, walked two and hit a batter. He also struck out just one. Still, the Red Sox failed in muliple opportunities to do damage against him. Hudson will draw the Indians and A’s in his next two starts. We still don’t recommend him in AL-only leagues, but those aren’t the toughest of opponents right now.

Luke Hudson was torched for 11 runs -- 10 earned -- while retiring just one batter in his start against the Indians on Sunday.
Hudson had turned in five straight quality starts, all against contenders, before getting blown out today. The first 10 Indians all reached base, one doing so on an Angel Berroa error. Hudson finally got an out when he fanned Jason Michaels the second time through, but the next batter, Travis Hafner, delivered a grand slam to knock him out of the game. The Royals did everything they could to keep Hudson in the game following the doubleheader yesterday. The surprising decision to keep Adam Bernero, who started Friday, has the club shorthanded in the pen right now.

Luke Hudson held the White Sox to three runs and four hits in seven innings to win on Wednesday night.
Hudson is 3-0 with a 3.52 ERA in five starts since moving into Kansas City’s rotation. Of course, he has teased before, and with Boston next on the schedule, this probably isn’t the time to be taking a chance on him in AL-only leagues.

Luke Hudson surrendered six runs -- five earned -- and 10 hits over six innings Friday in a loss to the Jays.
Hudson had his start pushed back a couple of days because of fatigue, and the results say he was still feeling it tonight. He shouldn’t be used in AL-only leagues with the Twins up next.

Luke Hudson’s next start has been pushed back from Wednesday to Friday.
Hudson says his arm is fine, but then talked about the situation as if he’s at the very least feeling some fatigue. “It’s one of those things everybody goes through,” Hudson said. “If it was up to me, I would throw. I’m going to take advantage of the next few days and feel a lot better the next time.”
