Mets prospect infielder Luke Ritter is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an oblique strain.
Will Sammon of The Athletic reported the injury, essentially declaring him out for the season with this 4-to-6 week timeline. The 26-year-old prospect was having a breakout campaign in the minors this year, slashing .244/.372/.496 while smashing 27 home runs across Double A and Triple A action. That’s 12 more home runs than he hit in the previous season, in 83 fewer plate appearances. The infielder is Rule 5 eligible so the Mets would need to add him to the 40-man roster this winter if they want to protect him.
