Rule 5 pick RHP Mac Sceroler has been returned to the Reds.
Sceroler was designated for assignment by the Orioles earlier this week after posting a 14.09 ERA over five relief appearances. He was starting in the minors for the Reds and could return to doing so.

Orioles designated RHP Mac Sceroler for assignment.
Sceroler had allowed a whopping 15 earned runs on 15 hits and seven walks in 7 2/3 innings of relief this season for the O’s. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.

Orioles activated RHP Mac Sceroler from the 10-day injured list.
Sceroler has been cleared to return after going down almost two months ago with right shoulder tendinitis. He didn’t pitch particularly well in the minors, but the O’s apparently think he’s ready.

Mac Sceroler (shoulder) has resumed throwing at the Orioles’ spring training complex.
Sceroler is working through some right shoulder tendinitis that sent him to the injured list back in mid-April. There is currently no timetable for his return, but he does seem to be making steady progress.

Orioles placed RHP Mac Sceroler on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder tendinitis.
The move is retroactive to April 13 and the Orioles have recalled RHP Travis Lakins from the team’s alternate training site in a corresponding move.

Rule 5 pick Mac Sceroler has secured a spot in the Orioles’ bullpen.
Fellow Rule 5 pick Tyler Wells also won a spot in the bullpen. As for the 25-year-old Sceroler, he was selected from the Reds in December and pitched pretty well this spring outside of one poor showing. He’s never pitched above High-A, but a team like the Orioles is willing to take some chances.

Orioles selected RHP Mac Sceroler from the Reds with the fifth pick in the Rule 5 draft.
Sceroler, a 2017 fifth-round pick, had a 3.69 ERA and a 127/29 K/BB ratio in 117 innings for high-A Daytona in 2019. His stuff is just average and he’s yet to even try Double-A ball, so expecting him to stick in the majors at this point seems awfully optimistic.
