    He struck out six batters over four innings of one-run ball at High-A Clearwater. Hollands is close to 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and could be an option for the Phillies’ bullpen sometime in early June. He’ll have to post good results at Double-A and Triple-A first.

    The injury is the same as the one plaguing Cliff Lee, a bad sign for the 26-year-old. Hollands will be evaluated and his MRI findings will be reviewed before a plan of action is determined. It appears as though Hollands will spend some time on the disabled list as a result of the injury.

    Mario Hollands is getting a second opinion on his injured elbow from Dr. James Andrews.
    Dr. Michael Ciccotti, the Phillies’ team physician, has recommended that Hollands undergo surgery to repair the common flexor tendon strain in his left elbow. It would put him out for the entire 2015 season.

    Hollands, 25, compiled a 3.09 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings of work this spring. He owns a 3.93 ERA in the minors, mostly as a starter, but will pitch out of Philadelphia’s bullpen to begin the 2014 campaign.
