Tigers signed RHP Matt Merrill to a minor-league contract.
Merrill was drafted by the Astros in 2017 but has spent the last three seasons in the Nationals farm system. In 2023, he posted gauded K/9 numbers (14.2) across 37 1/3 innings but he’s yet to pass the High-A level of competition.
