Blue Jays optioned 3B John Hattig to Triple-A Syracuse and OF Miguel Negron and INF Raul Tablado and to Double-A New Hampshire.
Negron, a 2000 first-round pick, didn’t exactly master the Florida State League last year, hitting .269/.341/.411 as a 21-year-old. He might have a future as a reserve. Hattig, who will start at third base for Syracuse, looked like something of a sleeper before the additions of Corey Koskie and Shea Hillenbrand. Now there’s little chance the native of Guam will debut before September.
