Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Tuesday that Yunel Escobar (elbow) will likely miss the next few games.
Escobar hasn’t played since being hit in the elbow by a pitch during Saturday’s game. “The swelling is midway down his forearm.” said Farrell. “That’s the length of it. He’s got some significant swelling in there. If he was capable, he’d be in the lineup, so he’s still a couple of days away.” Mike McCoy should continue to fill in at shortstop during his absence.

Blue Jays optioned INF-OF Mike McCoy to Triple-A Las Vegas.
McCoy batted just .182 (6-for-32) this spring, doing little to challenge Omar Vizquel for a utility infield job. Still, he’ll likely end up on the Blue Jays’ bench at some point this season.
  • BAL Outfield #28
Colby Rasmus will serve as the designated hitter again Thursday.
Rasmus returned from a minor groin injury Wednesday and went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. It might be another day or two before he’s ready to play center field. Mike McCoy will fill in on Thursday.
  • BAL Outfield #28
Colby Rasmus is not in Wednesday’s lineup against the Yankees.
No word yet on the reason for his absence, but he’s likely just getting a rest with southpaw CC Sabathia on the hill for the Bombers. Mike McCoy is starting in center field.
  • INT Outfield #18
Rajai Davis was scratched from Thursday’s lineup.
No word yet on the reason for the change. Mike McCoy will start in his place in left field.
  • INT Outfield #18
Updating a previous item, Rajai Davis was scratched from Friday’s lineup with a jammed middle finger on his left hand.
The severity of the injury isn’t yet known. Mike McCoy started in his place in left field Thursday night.
  • SD Shortstop
Blue Jays optioned INF-OF Mike McCoy to Triple-A Las Vegas.
He picked up three hits in just eight at-bats with the big club. McCoy will return to a .238/.381/.294 batting line at Vegas.
  • SD Shortstop
Blue Jays recalled INF-OF Mike McCoy from Triple-A Las Vegas.
He’ll take the place of David Carpenter on the active roster. McCoy appeared in eight games with the Blue Jays before the All-Star break, but has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, batting .263/.384/.349 with three home runs, 31 RBI, 21 stolen bases and a .733 OPS in 348 plate appearances. He’ll serve as bench depth.
  • BAL Outfield #28
Colby Rasmus (groin) was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup.
Rasmus was on the original lineup card, but the Blue Jays are giving him an extra day to recover from groin tightness. It’s possible he could serve as the DH before returning to center field. Mike McCoy will start in his place in center field Tuesday.
  • SD Shortstop
Blue Jays recalled INF Mike McCoy from Triple-A Las Vegas.
He’ll take the place of Eric Thames on the active roster and will serve as infield depth while Yunel Escobar (groin) and Kelly Johnson (hamstring) battle injuries. McCoy was hitting .238/.381/.294 with one homer, 14 RBI and a .675 OPS over 165 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this year and can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.
