Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Padres GM A.J. Preller is still in touch with the Phillies regarding a potential trade for starter Cole Hamels. Rosenthal says the Padres are “clearly not done” upgrading, but adds that some doubt the Padres would offer enough talent to land Hamels.

MLB.com released their top-100 prospect list for the 2015 season and the Padres had four players make the cut: outfielder Hunter Renfroe (48), catcher Austin Hedges (51), shortstop Trea Turner (62), and and pitcher Matt Wisler (69). The Phillies have shown interest in adding a young catcher, so Hedges would almost certainly have to be involved in any deal.
