As the best reliever on the open market it’s not surprising that left-hander Andrew Miller is reportedly drawing tons of interest, but it looks like he won’t be returning to the Orioles.
Baltimore acquired Miller from Boston on July 31 and he pitched brilliantly down the stretch and into the playoffs, but Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are not one of the 8-10 teams negotiating with him.
At this point Miller seems destined to get at least three and possibly four years at $10 million or more per season. It’s tough to blame the Orioles or any team for thinking that’s too rich for a reliever, but Miller had a 2.57 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 133 innings from 2012-2014 while holding opponents to a .181 batting average.
