Toronto has re-signed Munenori Kawasaki after dropping him from the 40-man roster in October, bringing the 33-year-old utility man back on a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Kawasaki has a lowly .235 batting average and a grand total of one home run in 239 career games, but he draws enough walks to post a decent on-base percentage and can play all over the field defensively.
Which is why he’s topped 250 plate appearances in each of the past two seasons and figures to make it back to the Blue Jays as a bench player at some point in 2015.
