Angels starter C.J. Wilson made his spring debut this afternoon, testing his surgically-repaired left elbow for the first time. He had bone spurs removed during the off-season and hopes to be ready when the regular season opens up in April.

Wilson gave up two runs in one and two-thirds innings, but the important thing is that the lefty felt great.

“If you’re driving around with a flat tire and you put a new tire on, your car will drive a lot better, right?” Wilson said. “I was a little amped up in the first inning, but my arm felt good, and my delivery felt smooth.”

Confusing metaphor aside, Wilson is expected to slot in the #2 spot in the rotation behind ace Jered Weaver.
