Chipper Jones announced this morning that he’s quitting Twitter:
I can’t even imagine the type of vitriol and negativity someone like Jones experiences on Twitter, but it’s worth noting that he started multiple Twitter feuds himself by acting considerably less than civil and regularly put forth strong opinions on subjects guaranteed to draw “hate” and “trolls.” For instance, just last night he tweeted this after a Braves pitcher plunked Bryce Harper and the benches cleared:
I’m gonna take a wild guess that the reaction from Nationals fans played a part in Jones quitting Twitter today.
No more twitter for me. Said I’d do it for one year and the time is up. Too much hate and too many trolls. Much love to Braves country! Xo
