Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that three teams are left in the running for the services of free agent reliever Darren O’Day: the Orioles, Nationals, and Braves. MASN’s Roch Kubatko noted that O’Day prefers the East coast, and that the Nationals are viewed as the favorites.
O’Day, 33, finished the 2015 season with a sterling 1.52 ERA with an 82/14 K/BB ratio over 65 1/3 innings. He’s finished with an ERA of 2.28 or lower in six of his last seven seasons.
ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick hears from sources that O’Day is expected to land a deal “just south” of the four-year, $36 million deal Andrew Miller signed with the Yankees last December.
