Fired by Angels, pitching coach Mike Butcher hired by Diamondbacks

Mike Butcher Angels

It didn’t take long for Mike Butcher to find a new home after being fired as the Angels’ pitching coach earlier this month, as Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have hired him to fill the same role.

Butcher was the Angels’ pitching coach for nine seasons, but is just one of several high-profile coaches and front office members to recently leave the organization while manager Mike Scioscia stays in what is ultimately the Final Boss role.

During their nine seasons with Butcher as pitching coach spanning 2007-2015 the team had the third-best ERA in the American League, so Arizona is getting an experienced coach with a strong track record.
