Jason Heyward just offered a pessimistic take on his recovery

Milwaukee Brewers v Atlanta Braves

Jason Heyward is on the 15-day disabled list following his appendectomy last week. He’s eligible to return a week from today, and based on the recovery timeline of other players who have had laparoscopic appendectomies, should have been able to return around then or a little bit thereafter. But talking to the press this afternoon, Heyward gave a much longer timeline than that:

#Braves Heyward (appendectomy) says he hopes to return no later than end of May but won’t risk rushing back

No suggestion that he’s experienced any setbacks or anything, but no countervailing word from the team. For a Braves team suddenly in need of some offensive help, this is not particularly good news.
