If you’re a person who has participated in society at all over the last two weeks, you’ve likely heard of Pokémon Go, a new augmented reality game based on the popular Pokémon series by Nintendo. By utilizing players’ GPS and cameras from their phones, the game allows players to find and catch Pokémon, such as Pikachu, as if it were in real life.
While some have been critical of the game because it keeps people glued to their phones and distracted, it has also encouraged lots of people to go outside and socialize, something that has been a major criticism of video games in the past. Everyone has gotten in on the fun, including Angels outfielder Mike Trout, as Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reported this past Friday as the Angels hosted the White Sox:
Pokemon Go has hit Major League Baseball. Mike Trout bounded into the clubhouse today asking, "Are there any Pokemon in here?"

Apparently, there’s also a gym in center field at Angel Stadium, which is good news for Trout. (A gym is where players can send their Pokémon out to battle those of players on another team. There are three teams: Valor, Mystic, and Instinct.)
