Bartolo Colon can’t hold the spotlight for this long, not if Noah Syndergaard has anything to say about it. During Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers, Syndergaard blasted two home runs -- one solo, one three-run -- against starter Kenta Maeda, helping the Mets take a 4-2 lead after five innings. Syndergaard struck out in his third at-bat facing reliever Chris Hatcher.
Syndergaard is the first pitcher to hit two home runs in a game since Micah Owings did so with the Diamondbacks against the Braves on August 18, 2007.
