Singer-songwriter Lorde has said that an old photograph of “some dude” in a Royals jersey from National Geographic is what inspired the Grammy Award-winning song “Royals.” That dude turned out to be Hall of Famer George Brett. Lorde’s tour made its way through Kansas City last night, so it only makes sense that Brett sent her some some gifts on behalf of the Royals:

The inscription from Brett reads,” Lorde, you are Royal to me.” Well, isn’t that sweet. Brett had the Royals give her an autographed copy of the aforementioned picture.
