Report: Dodgers nearing deal with reliever Chris Perez

Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times is reporting that the Dodgers are nearing a one-year deal with free agent reliever Chris Perez. Financial details of the deal are not yet known.

Perez had spent the past four seasons as the closer for the Indians, but increasing ineffectiveness and some non-baseball-related incidents made him more trouble to the Indians than he was worth. Over those four years, he saved 123 games while posting a 3.19 ERA in 234.1 innings. The Indians released him after the season.

Perez joins a Dodgers bullpen that includes closer Kenley Jansen and veterans Brian Wilson, Brandon League, and J.P. Howell, among others.
