After another poor start on Wednesday against the Orioles, Yankees hurler Sonny Gray’s rotation spot was said to be in jeopardy. It certainly was. Gray has officially been moved to the bullpen, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Gray, 28, has made 21 starts this season with an 8-8 record, a 5.56 ERA, and a 99/46 K/BB ratio in 103 2/3 innings. The right-hander has one more year of arbitration eligibility remaining, so the Yankees do have some incentive to help him through his issues. That being said, Gray could also be non-tendered in the offseason.
Lance Lynn, recently acquired from the Twins, will take Gray’s spot in the rotation, according to WFAN’s Chris Carlin. The 31-year-old right-hander has a 4.89 ERA with a 105/62 K/BB ratio in 106 2/3 innings this season.
