Padres signed RHP Nolan Watson to a minor league contract.
Watson will bolster the Padres’ organizational pitching depth after recording a lackluster 6.66 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 46/36 K/BB ratio across 72 2/3 innings (28 appearances, seven starts) last season between High-A Quad Cities and Double-A Northwest Arkansas in the Royals’ minor-league system. The 25-year-old righty was selected in the first round (33rd overall) by the Royals back in 2015.
