    Martinez, who was acquired from the Marlins last September as part of the Ozzie Guillen deal, was hitting just .178 with zero homers and a .450 OPS over 230 plate appearances with Triple-A Charlotte this season. The 24-year-old will serve as organizational depth.

    The deal includes a spring training invite. Martinez, 24, was acquired from the White Sox in July for cash considerations and batted .255/.296/.275 in 39 games with Triple-A Albuqueruque. He’ll likely serve as minor league depth again in 2013.

    White Sox acquired SS Osvaldo Martinez and RHP Jhan Marinez from the Marlins for manager Ozzie Guillen.
    The odd agreement was finalized on Tuesday afternoon, with Guillen signing a four-year contract to the be the new manager of the Miami Marlins. Martinez, a 23-year-old infielder, was selected in the 11th round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. He’s a decent defender with good speed, but is far from a major prospect. Marinez is a 23-year-old middle reliever.

    Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports that Osvaldo Martinez will be sent to the White Sox along with a minor league pitcher in exchange for manager Ozzie Guillen.
    Martinez, 23, was an 11th round selection in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft. Known more for his defense than offense, he batted just .245/.296/.322 with three home runs and 26 RBI in 371 plate appearances this season at Triple-A New Orleans. He can’t really be considered a prospect. The trade is expected to go final on Wednesday.

    No word yet on what the Dodgers will receive in return. Martinez will report to Triple-A Gwinnett and function as infield depth for the Braves.

    Martinez spent all of 2015 at Double-A Bowie, hitting just .252/.310/.303. He hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2011 and is merely a depth guy.

    Martinez was involved in a nasty on-field collision over the weekend and is suffering from whiplash along with a possible head injury. There should be an update soon. The 27-year-old infielder is not in the running for a spot on the Orioles’ Opening Day roster.
