Patrick Monteverde yielded two runs in 3 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Mets.
Since the Marlins have lost three starters this spring, Monteverde has unexpectedly entered the running for a rotation spot. The 26-year-old spent most of last year going 10-5 with a 3.32 ERA in Double-A, though he posted a 15.58 ERA in two starts after moving up to Triple-A. He’s given up two runs, struck out eight and walked two in 7 1/3 innings this spring.
