Peter Bourjos has been hired as an advance scout for the Rockies.
It’s a safe assumption that his playing days are now over. Bourjos, 32, batted just .091/.109/.114 over 46 plate appearances last season with the Angels before getting released in early May. The outfielder tallied 502 hits, 43 home runs, and 68 stolen bases over the course of a 10-year major league career.

    Angels released OF Peter Bourjos.
Bourjos cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will now look for a job elsewhere. He’ll undoubtedly have to settle for a minor league pact.
  • LAA Outfield #25
Angels designated OF Peter Bourjos for assignment.
Bourjos made the Angels’ Opening Day roster out of camp this spring, but he’s been given the boot after slashing just .091/.109/.114 in 26 games (46 plate appearances). The 32-year-old outfielder will probably pass through waivers unclaimed and can then either test free agency or accept a spot at Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Angels manager Brad Ausmus expects Mike Trout to resume playing center field on Friday.
He’ll serve as the Angels’ DH for a fourth straight game on Thursday following last week’s groin injury. The two-time MVP claims to be fine, but you can’t blame Los Angeles for being overly cautious, especially after investing $430 million in Trout this offseason. Peter Bourjos will get the nod in center Thursday against Seattle.

Mike Trout (groin) remained out of the Angels’ lineup Friday.
Trout tweaked his right groin Tuesday. He is still in Anaheim being evaluated, but the hope is he can rejoin the club as soon as Saturday. There’s a chance, however, that they’ll hold him back and have him rejoin the team on Monday in Texas. Peter Bourjos is in center field Friday.

Mike Trout has been diagnosed with a right groin strain.
The Angels are calling him “day-to-day,” but groin strains are usually more than day-to-day things. Trout seemed to suffer the injury while running the bases in the bottom of the second inning, after hitting his second single of the night. Peter Bourjos entered to play center field for the Angels in the top of the fourth. There should be more information about the severity of the strain when Trout is reevaluated on Wednesday.

Mike Trout exited Tuesday night’s game against the Brewers after three innings.
Trout singled and scored in the Angels’ six-run first inning before adding another single in the bottom of the second. He was replaced by Peter Bourjos before the top of the fourth. Trout was shown on the broadcast stretching his back and/or hip while smiling next to manager Brad Ausmus in the fifth. There should be an update soon from Angel Stadium.
  • STL Designated Hitter #5
Albert Pujols is not in the Angels’ lineup Sunday.
It’s a routine day off. Mike Trout will serve as the designated hitter, as the Halos have Brian Goodwin, Peter Bourjos and Kole Calhoun in the outfield. The club also has Kevan Smith catching while Jonathan Lucroy rests.

Angels purchased the contract of OF Peter Bourjos from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Yes, it’s the year 2019 and Bourjos will be on the Opening Day roster in Anaheim. He began his MLB career with the Angels back in 2010 and has since compiled a .240/.296/.382 lifetime slash line between five different clubs. The soon-to-be 32-year-old will operate as a sort of utility outfielder.

Peter Bourjos went 2-for-4 with a homer and a pair of RBI in a rout of the Reds on Saturday in Cactus League action.
Bourjos now has two homers this spring. The 31-year-old was brought in on a minor league deal with an invite to the Cactus League, and it’s a return to the organization that he broke with. He’s really struggled with the bat, and despite the nice start to his exhibition season, it’s unlikely Bourjos provides any type of fantasy value this year.
