Manager Bobby Cox said Rafael Furcal would “absolutely” be available to play today.
We’ll see how the Braves deal with the distraction of the DUI arrest of their starting shortstop.

Rafael Furcal was arrested early Friday morning and charged with DUI for the second time in four years.
Furcal was stopped by Atlanta police at 4:20 a.m. ET near Monroe Drive and I-85. He was also charged with speeding and reckless driving. His bond was set at $3,200 and his next court appearance is set for Oct. 14. The Braves “plan to address this matter later today.” Furcal surely won’t be released, but he may be held out of action for a few games, putting Mark DeRosa at shortstop.

With the Braves eliminated from the postseason, Rafael Furcal was due to begin serving a 21-day jail sentence today.
Furcal was arrested and charged with DUI last month for the second time in four years.

Rafael Furcal, who is serving a 21-day jail sentence for being arrested while on probation, pleaded guilty Thursday to his second drunken driving charge.
His latest sentence will run concurrently with the remaining 19 days of his current jail term. After his release from jail Nov. 1, Furcal also must enter in-house alcohol treatment, serve about 10 months of probation, complete 240 hours of community service and attend a 20-hour course about drunken driving.

Rafael Furcal was released early from the Cobb County Jail after serving 13 days of a 21-day sentence for being arrested while on probation.

Rafael Furcal pinch-hit last night, but manager Bobby Cox isn’t sure when he’ll return to the lineup.
''He kind of went backward [Monday],’' said Cox, though he said there’s still no plan to put Furcal on the DL. He could return for the weekend series.

Rafael Furcal’s left ankle remains swollen, and it’s doubtful he’ll play before Tuesday.
Furcal has been out since Sunday with the injury.

Rafael Furcal, who has missed five games with a sore back, is expected to return this weekend, maybe tonight.
Furcal, a switch-hitter, is feeling some pain swinging right-handed, so we wouldn’t bet on him being in there against lefty Darren Oliver tonight.

One day after mentioning the possibility of putting Rafael Furcal on the disabled list, manager Bobby Cox said the shortstop might play Wednesday.
Furcal’s back injury was looking like it might be more serious over the weekend, so a quick return would be a blessing.
