Ray Chang went 3-for-4 with a homer as China won 4-1 to eliminate Taiwan from the WBC on Saturday.
Chang, the one American-born player on Team China, made a nice impression both offensively and defensively. The 25-year-old spent time in the minors for San Diego and Pittsburgh last season and hit .247/.365/.383 in 81 at-bats. In 2007, he hit .262/.316/.360 in 267 at-bats for Triple-A Portland. It looked like he may spend the rest of his minor league career as a reserve, but he could get some additional attention after this one. China, now 1-1, will face the loser of the Korea-Japan game later tonight in an attempt to advance in the WBC.
