2005 19th-round pick Reidier Gonzalez pitched 8 2/3 scoreless innings for Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday.
At this point, any starter who turns in a good month in Double- or Triple-A is a possibility for the Toronto rotation. Gonzalez has never been taken seriously as a prospect, but he has a 1.23 ERA after two starts for New Hampshire. The 23-year-old went 12-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 20 starts and seven relief appearances for Single-A Dunedin last season.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Reidier Gonzalez from Double-A New Hampshire.
Gonzalez is now protected from being chosen in December’s Rule 5 draft. The 24-year-old right-hander was 4-6 with a 2.90 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 17 starts with Double-A New Hampshire in 2009, but has never been considered a top prospect. He’ll likely start next season with Triple-A Las Vegas.
