The Tigers inquired about OF Rene Reyes earlier this weak, but couldn’t find a suitable piece in return.
The Tigers were offering centerfielder Andrew Torres. It’s possible that Colorado could seek out an upgrade over Reyes if he continues to struggle at the plate.

Rene Reyes will get another chance to show what he can do in right field.
With Brad Hawpe demoted, Reyes will be the starter until Larry Walker comes back. But if he doesn’t show something the job will be shared by Kit Pellow and Mark Sweeney. Reyes is worth taking a chance on for NL-only teams in need of a temporary shot in the arm.

Rene Reyes went 3-for-5 with a triple and five RBI for Lara of the Venezuelan Winter League yesterday.
It looks like Reyes will return to compete for a job in the Colorado outfield next spring. The Rockies no longer think very highly of him, but he still could be a useful reserve.

Rene Reyes hit a grand slam in the ninth inning to give Lara a 6-5 win over Pastora in Sunday’s Venezuelan Winter League action.
Reyes is batting .323 with 4 HR and 28 RBI in 30 games for the Cardinals. He’ll compete for a bench spot with the Cubs in the spring after signing a minor league deal last month.

Rene Reyes went 4-for-7 with a double and a triple yesterday for Caracas of the Venezuelan Winter League.
Reyes is batting .356 with eight doubles and one home run in 22 games, but his strong performance isn’t likely to change the Rockies’ plans to bring in a veteran left fielder if they can’t re-sign Jay Payton.

Rene Reyes has joined Caracas of the Venezuelan Winter League and went 2-for-4 in each of his first two games.
Reyes played for the same club last season and hit .346 in 36 games. The switch-hitting 25-year-old appears likely to be Colorado’s fourth outfielder next season. The Rockies may lose Jay Payton, but it appears that they’ll replace him with a veteran if it happens.

Rene Reyes is a candidate to be traded if he fails to beat out Kit Pellow for a spot on the Colorado bench.
The Rockies are going to need to free up some 40-man roster spots later this month, so trading Reyes for a younger prospect will be an option. Since Reyes does have options remaining, there should be some interest in him.

Rene Reyes doubled twice and walked in four plate appearances today.
The Rockies have been shopping Reyes, who they no longer view as a future regular. If Reyes ends up winning a roster spot, his strong game today could be the big reason why.

Rockies optioned OF Rene Reyes to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Reyes started six games in a row during the first half of the month, but he had gotten just one start since April 15. If that’s the way he was going to be used, Triple-A is the best place for him.
