Padres prospect infielder River Stevens will miss the entire 2013 season following surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder.
Stevens, 21, batted .241/.303/.282 in 49 games with Low-A Eugene last season while splitting time between second base, third base and shortstop. This isn’t as big of a blow to the Padres as the recent Rymer Liriano (elbow) news, as Stevens was not ranked among the organization’s top 30 prospects by Baseball America.
