Tigers signed LHP Robbie Ross to a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old southpaw has logged 330 2/3 innings in 266 appearances at the big league level in his career, compiling a 3.92 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 274/120 K/BB ratio. He hasn’t pitched at the MLB level since appearing in eight games for the Red Sox in 2017 though and has spent the last two years pitching in independent leagues. It’s a nice low-risk flier for the Tigers who desperately need to improve their bullpen depth.

Rangers purchased the contract of LHP Robbie Ross from Double-A Frisco.
As expected. Ross entered spring training as a long shot, but posted an impressive 1.50 ERA and 11/2 K/BB ratio over 12 innings during Cactus League action. The 22-year-old will be the lone left-hander out of the Rangers’ bullpen.

Robbie Ross has made the Rangers’ Opening Day roster.
With Neal Cotts injured, Ross was the lone southpaw left standing. He’s earned the spot with a 1.64 ERA and 10/2 K/BB ratio over 11 innings this spring. Just 22, Ross has made only six appearances above A-ball. He’s been used exclusively as a starter in the minors but will be a reliever in Texas.

Robbie Ross tossed two scoreless innings Friday night against the Rockies.
Ross now owns an impressive 1.64 ERA and 10/2 K/BB ratio over 11 innings this spring. The Rangers came into camp prepared to go all right-handed in their bullpen, but the 22-year-old southpaw just might get them to change their minds.

Rangers manager Ron Washington indicated that it’s unlikely Robbie Ross will come out of the bullpen to fill Alexi Ogando’s (groin) spot in the rotation Saturday.
Ross was a logical choice, as he’s started throughout the minors and threw four innings in relief of Ogando Sunday, but Washington likes him where he is. “Without Ogando down there, he’s the magical piece,” the manager said. “He can do a lot of things. I want him to stay in the bullpen.” It’s still up in the air as to who the Rangers will use Saturday, but it won’t be Roy Oswalt, as he’s starting for Double-A Frisco Tuesday and will need at least one more minor league start after that.

Robbie Ross (arm) is expected to be cleared to resume a throwing program after visiting with Dr. Keith Meister Wednesday.
Ross has been sidelined since late August with soreness in his left forearm. He’s expected back for postseason play, though it’s not clear how many appearances he’ll make it back for this month.

Rangers placed LHP Robbie Ross on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 30, with left forearm soreness.
The severity of the injury isn’t yet known. Ross has been an important part of the Rangers’ bullpen this season, posting a 1.78 ERA and 43/22 K/BB ratio over 60 2/3 innings.

Rangers activated LHP Robbie Ross from the 15-day disabled list.
Ross missed just over the minimum with forearm soreness. He’ll return as the Rangers’ primary left-handed specialist over Martin Perez and Michael Kirkman.

Robbie Ross (forearm) has been cleared to resume throwing.
The left-hander has been sidelined since late August with soreness in his left forearm. The Rangers will likely take it slow with Ross, but he should be fine to rejoin the bullpen later this month.

Robbie Ross (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Thursday.
Ross threw long-toss Tuesday with no issues. If Thursday’s bullpen session goes off without a hitch, he could be activated from the DL as early as Friday. Ross has been out since late August with soreness in his left forearm.
