Yankees signed INF/OF Rosell Herrera to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old saw significant playing time at the big league level for the Marlins in 2019 -- appearing in 63 games -- but he slashed an anemic .200/.288/.314 with two homers and 11 RBI in his 119 plate appearances. He’ll provide the Yankees with additional depth and versatility in the minor leagues.

Marlins sent OF Rosell Herrera outright to Triple-A New Orleans.
Herrera was designated for assignment earlier in the week but passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to provide outfield depth at Triple-A for the Marlins. He hit just .200/.288/.314 with a pair of homers and four swipes in 119 plate appearances at the big league level.

Marlins designated INF/OF Rosell Herrera for assignment.
Herrera was batting just .200/.288/.314 with two home runs and four stolen bases through 63 games (119 plate appearances) this season for Miami. The 26-year-old once ranked as a top-100 prospect in the Rockies’ system, but that was a long time ago. He could pass through waivers unclaimed and wind up at Triple-A New Orleans. Or maybe some team desperate for outfield or infield depth will want to take a look.

Jon Berti was scratched from the Marlins’ lineup Sunday due to a left oblique strain.
There’s no word on whether it could lead to an injured list stint for Berti, but it would certainly seem possible. Rosell Herrera has replace him in the lineup.

Rosell Herrera went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs in a win over the Indians on Wednesday.
He slammed a double that plated two runs in the fourth inning, then knocked in another run with a single in the sixth. It was a rare strong game for the utilityman. He is batting a paltry .172/.226/.224 with zero homers and six RBI in 58 plate appearances. The former Rockie, Red and Royal can be safely ignored in all but the deepest fantasy leagues.

Rosell Herrera went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored during a loss to the Mets on Wednesday.
The Marlins were staring at a shutout until the final inning when they mounted a rally that ultimately fell short. The Marlins scored four runs in the ninth and Herrera played a key role. He stroked a double that plated Martin Prado, then came around to score on a Miguel Rojas single to center. He is now 5-for-23 on the young season. Herrera is getting everyday playing time so far this year despite owning a .230/.281/.307 slash line with one homer and 22 RBI in 93 career games. He is unlikely to be worthy of fantasy rosters this year.

Rosell Herrera went 0-for-4 as the Marlins’ No. 2 hitter in Monday’s loss to the Mets.
The entire reason that Herrera makes any sense for a major league roster is that he can play all over the infield and outfield. The problem is that the Marlins have no use for him in the infield and only really play to use him in the outfield corners, where his extreme lack of offensive ability seems like a major problem. Herrera has hit .231/.282/.309 in 295 major league at-bats, and he’s even managed to be thrown out on six of his 10 steal attempts. The Marlins should be looking to replace him with an actual outfielder.

Marlins claimed INF/OF Rosell Herrera off waivers from the Royals.
Herrera spent a chunk of last season as the Royals’ right fielder, which worked out well since the team wasn’t trying to win games at all. He ended up hitting .238/.292/.325 in 265 at-bats for Kansas City. He might be able to do a little better than that going forward and he offers plenty of versatility defensively, but he needs to be looked at as the 25th man on a roster.

Rossell Herrera went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple in Friday’s victory over the Tigers.
Herrera delivered a run-scoring double in the fourth inning and came around to score later in the frame on a sacrifice fly. The 25-year-old is now hitting .232/.287/.319 with one homer, 20 RBI and two stolen bases in 287 plate appearances with the Royals. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Rockies purchased the contract of SS Rosell Herrera from Class-A Asheville.
Herrera broke out in a big way in 2013, batting .343/.419/.515 with 16 home runs and 21 stolen bases at Asheville. Still just 21, Herrera is a few years away from the majors. Adding him to the 40-man roster ensures that he won’t be snatched by another team in December’s Rule 5 Draft, though.
