They now have another 40-man roster spot to work with. Rua is a career .236/.289/.382 hitter over parts of five major league seasons.

The Rangers brought back Rua for this year when there seemed to be very little reason to do so, but they can’t possibly keep him on the 40-man roster again after a season in which he hit .194 with a 53/5 K/BB ratio in 147 plate appearances. He’s spent parts of five seasons with the Rangers and compiled a -0.1 rWAR in 279 games.

It’s a routine day of rest. Robinson Chirinos will catch in Lucroy’s place. The Rangers also have Nomar Mazara and Mitch Moreland on the bench with the Rays throwing lefty Blake Snell. Ryan Rua is at first base and Delino DeShields and Drew Stubbs will man the corner outfield spots.

Choo made an early exit from Tuesday’s game after experiencing lower back stiffness. He’s day-to-day. Ryan Rua will start in left field and bat sixth, with Nomar Mazara in right field and batting seventh. Jurickson Profar is at leadoff versus Steven Wright.

He’ll replace the injured Shin-Soo Choo (forearm) on the active roster. Rua, 26, has batted .266/.341/.414 with seven homers over 229 plate appearances with the Rangers this season. He should see part-time at-bats down the stretch.

He’ll sit against southpaw CC Sabathia. Shin-Soo Choo will start in right field while Ryan Rua plays left.

Choo hasn’t played since July 10 due to a nagging back injury. Per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the veteran outfielder said he could play Monday, but Rangers manager Jeff Banister wanted to give him another day. Nomar Mazara is in right field on Monday while Ryan Rua will play left.

Odor has had trouble in his career against Dallas Keuchel, so he’ll get a breather for this one. Shin-Soo Choo and Mitch Moreland are also sitting against the southpaw, as the Rangers are going with Hanser Alberto at second base, Drew Stubbs in right field and Ryan Rua at first base.

The Rangers are going with a right-handed heavy lineup against David Price. Ryan Rua is in left field.

He’s presumably getting a day of rest. Shin-Soo Choo (hamstring) will make his return from the disabled list and start in right field while Ryan Rua will play left.
