Scott Atchison left Sunday’s game before the eight innings due to an apparent arm injury.
Atchison threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and was coming out to start another frames, but he began shaking his right arm after a warmup pitch and then left the field with a trainer. We’ll update his status when more is known.

Scott Atchison has been diagnosed with a strained groin.
Red Sox manager Terry Francona called it a “mild groin tweak.” Atchison left Sunday’s game before the eighth inning shaking his right arm after a warmup pitch. He should be considered day-to-day.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Scott Atchison from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Atchison, a non-roster player, secured a spot in Boston’s bullpen by posting a 2.84 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings during Grapefruit League action. The 35-year-old right-hander will pitch in middle relief.

Red Sox declined RHP Scott Atchison’s club option for 2012.
Atchinson would have earned $40,000 over the major league minimum. He’s still on the club’s 40-man roster, however, because he’s arbitration eligible. Expect Boston to non-tender him. The 35-year-old right-hander is out of options. He went 1-0 with a 3.26 ERA over 30 1/3 innings in 2011.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher
Red Sox sent RHP Scott Atchison outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Atchison passed through waivers with ease after being designated for assignment late-last month. He’ll come to spring training as a non-roster player. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a 3.26 ERA and 17/6 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings with the Red Sox last year.

Red Sox designated RHP Scott Atchison for assignment.
He was cleared in order to make room for Cody Ross on the team’s 40-man roster. Atchison, who turns 36 in March, posted a 3.26 ERA and 17/6 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings last season. There’s a chance he’ll slip through waivers unclaimed.

Scott Atchison (forearm) is scheduled to make a rehab appearance Friday with Triple-A Pawtucket.
If it goes well, the Red Sox may rush him back to the big league bullpen. Atchison has been on the disabled list since July 14 because of tightness in his right forearm.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher
Scott Atchison (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Pawtucket.
Atchison, currently on the disabled list with a torn UCL, managed to avoid Tommy John surgery and is attempting to rejoin the Red Sox later this month. The minor league season ends Monday, but Atchison figures to continue his rehab into the playoffs assuming he’s healthy.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher
Red Sox transferred RHP Scott Atchison from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired Pedro Beato the 40-man roster. Atchison was recently diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and is attempting to rehab the injury rather than undergo Tommy John surgery.

Scott Atchison has been diagnosed with a torn UCL.
Atchison is seeking a second opinion, but it’s doubtful to turn up better news. The 36-year-old righty is likely to require Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
