Tom Shearn shut out the Mets for six innings on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 in three big-league starts.

It had to help a little that Jose Reyes, Moises Alou and Carlos Delgado were out of the lineup. While Shearn’s success has been a nice story so far, he’s not someone NL-only leaguers should risk picking up.

Tom Shearn, making his major league debut at age 29, picked up a win by holding the Marlins to three runs in seven innings of work.

Shearn gave up four hits and walked two while throwing 62-of-101 pitches for strikes. As long as he pitches well he’ll continue to remain in the rotation with Bobby Livingston sidelined. He’s not a fantasy option.

The Reds have settled on Tom Shearn to start Sunday against the Marlins.

Shearn will be making his major league debut 11 years after he was drafted in the 29th round by the Astros. The journeyman was 7-10 with a 4.20 ERA for Triple-A Louisville.

Two days shy of his 30th birthday, Shearn will make his major league debut today against the Marlins.

Reds sent RHP Tom Shearn and C Alvin Colina outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Colina had just been claimed off waivers from the Rockies. Shearn did a fair job serving as a stopgap at the end of the season for the Reds, going 3-0 with a 4.96 ERA in six starts and one relief appearance. The team will likely attempt to re-sign him to a minor league contract.
