Playing for Mo Vaughn, Tony Clark homered in his Mets debut Sunday.
Clark doesn’t have much fantasy value, but he’s a smart pick-up as a reserve for Vaughn owners.

The Diamondbacks have some interest in signing Tony Clark or John Olerud as a backup for Chad Tracy.
Tracy is a left-handed hitter, so his backup should be right-handed. Clark, a switch-hitter, would be a decent fit.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Free agent Tony Clark is close to joining the Yankees as Jason Giambi’s backup at first base.
The Yankees have looked at Eric Karros, Wil Cordero and Andres Galarraga, but it appears that those players want more at-bats than the team is willing to offer. Jeremy Giambi is another player the Yankees considered. Although Fernando Seguignol remains on the 40-man roster, it doesn’t appear that the team is taking him seriously as an option.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
The Diamondbacks are likely to sign Tony Clark to act as a reserve first baseman and pinch-hitter.
The only problem is that the team wants him to agree to a minor league contract because its 40-man roster is full. It’s expected that something will be worked out.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Tony Clark will get some playing time in the outfield this spring, but he’s not expected to make the Yankees following the Travis Lee acquisition.
If anyone wants to give the Yankees a prospect for Lee, they’ll be happy to trade him. Most likely, they’ll probably just end up releasing him.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Tony Clark played left field for the first time in the majors last night.
Clark caught a fly ball but overthrew the cutoff man. He won’t see much more time in the outfield.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Tony Clark was a late scratch from last night’s game, feeling some soreness from taking a grounder off the shoulder Saturday.
Clark has five homers in August, but his playing time is likely to be reduced once Mike Piazza returns.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Diamondbacks signed first baseman Tony Clark to a two-year contract extension through 2007.
Don’t stop with Clark; this would be a good time to lock up Randy Choate for a few more years, too. Clark has had a truly remarkable year, but this is probably another multiyear contract the Diamondbacks are going to feel bad about before the first season is over. Clark is 33 and he failed to post an 800 OPS in the three years before this one. Four months ago, the majority opinion was probably that he’d be out of the league by 2007.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Despite Conor Jackson’s two-homer game last night, Tony Clark was back at first base today and he hit his 19th home run.
Jackson struck out as a pinch-hitter. Manager Bob Melvin has faith in Jackson’s bat, but it looks like Clark will keep getting the majority of the playing time at first base.
  • ARI 1st Baseman
Tony Clark hit a pair of two-run homers and walked tonight in the win over the Braves.
Maybe the Diamondbacks will just go ahead and sent Conor Jackson down. With Clark’s miracle season continuing, it’s hard to blame Bob Melvin for playing him over Jackson at first base.
