Trayvon Robinson will be limited during workouts Thursday due to a tight left hamstring.
Robinson will hit and throw on Thursday, but won’t push things by running. It doesn’t sound like a major concern and the 24-year-old outfielder should be back to normal within the next few days.
  • Mariners optioned OF Trayvon Robinson to Triple-A Tacoma.
Acquired from the Dodgers in the Erik Bedard deal last July, Robinson is considered ''toolsy’’ with projectable power and good speed, and was reportedly ''in the mix’’ for playing time in left field. It’s not unrealistic to think he could reappear in the majors by midseason. The Mariners also reassigned left-handers Sean Henn and Oliver Perez, and right-handers Matt Fox, Aaron Heilman, Josh Kinney and Jeff Marquez to minor league camp.
  • Trayvon Robinson went 3-for-4 and hit his first homer of the spring Sunday versus the Giants.
Robinson is back in the mix for a job in the Seattle outfield following Franklin Gutierrez’s injury, but it still seems more likely that he’s Triple-A bound. Of course, the 6-for-12 start to his spring does help his chances a bit.
  • Trayvon Robinson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Robinson is 4-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI in three games since being called up on July 24. He’s still in line for significant playing time even with Eric Thames arriving, so he’s worth trying in AL-only leagues.
  • Trayvon Robinson belted a solo home run but the Mariners fell to the Angels on Saturday.
He also drew the first intentional walk of his major league career. With Michael Saunders sidelined because of a groin injury, Robinson has seen a sharp increase in playing time over the last week. He’s now hitting .245 with two homers and eight RBI through his first 94 at-bats.
  • Mariners recalled OF Trayvon Robinson from Triple-A Tacoma.
Robinson has posted an underwhelming .265/.331/.409 batting line in 381 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level, but he’s still regarded as a promising young player and could see a good amount of action for the down-and-out Mariners.
  • COL Outfield #21
Michael Saunders is out of Friday’s lineup due to leg soreness.
Mariners manager Eric Wedge says it’s nothing serious, so consider him day-to-day for now. Casper Wells is starting in center field Friday night while Eric Thames plays right and Trayvon Robinson starts in left.
  • Trayvon Robinson had a nice night at the plate in a losing effort against the White Sox on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run.
Robinson also scored two runs in the game. Once thought of as a can’t miss prospect, the 24-year-old outfielder is finally receiving his first real shot at extended playing time. He’s responded by hitting .250 with a homer, five RBI and three steals over his first 68 at-bats. He’s unlikely to make a major impact in mixed leagues this season, but keep him in mind as a sleeper option for 2013.
  • LAD Outfield #28
Franklin Gutierrez (groin) is not in Monday’s lineup against the Angels.
Gutierrez left Sunday’s game with tightness in his left groin muscle and could be shut down for the rest of the year. Michael Saunders will take his place in center field Monday while Casper Wells plays right and Trayvon Robinson starts in left.
  • Orioles acquired OF Trayvon Robinson from the Mariners for INF Robert Andino.
Robinson, 25, has a .215/.272/.330 batting line and a 104/22 K/BB ratio over his first 319 plate appearances in the majors. While he has been a disappointment so far, the Orioles did well to get him in return for Robert Andino, who was a non-tender candidate.
