Rangers re-signed RHP Tyler Zombro to a minor league contract.
Zombro made just a pair of relief appearances for Triple-A Round Rock this past season after signing a minor league deal with the Rangers back in mid-May. The 29-year-old righty reliever is merely extra organizational depth for the defending World Series champions at this point.

Rangers signed RHP Tyler Zombro to a minor league contract.
The 28-year-old hurler was released by the Rays at the end of spring training. He has made a remarkable comeback from a fractured skull and thoracic outlet syndrome surgery and will have plenty of fans worldwide rooting him on in his comeback bid this time around.

    Rays released RHP Tyler Zombro.
Zombro made a pair of relief appearances last season for Triple-A Durham, less than one year after being struck in the head by a line drive, which resulted in a fractured skull that wound up requiring emergency brain surgery. The 28-year-old righty underwent thoracic outlet syndrome surgery last June.

Rays RHP prospect Tyler Zombro fired a scoreless frame Sunday in his first relief appearance for Triple-A Durham since June 3, 2021.
It was a remarkable scene Sunday afternoon as Zombro received a standing ovation and proceeded to look outstanding in his first appearance since being struck in the right side of the head by a line-drive last June. The 27-year-old righty underwent emergency brain surgery that left him with 16 plates and 36 screws to stabilize his skull. He pitched in spring training for the Rays last month, but this was his first regular-season appearance since last summer.

Tyler Zombro (head) expects to be ready for the start of the 2022 minor league season.
Zombro suffered a fractured skull -- and required emergency surgery -- after getting struck by a line drive last June at Triple-A Durham. But he was medically cleared to resume physical activity in December and will report to camp with the Rays’ other minor leaguers later this month. “They said, ‘You’re good to go,’” Zombro told the Tampa Bay Times on Monday. “So I’ve booked my housing for spring (training), and I’ll be there.”

Rays RHP prospect Tyler Zombro was moved out of the intensive care unit of Duke University Hospital on Monday following brain surgery.
Zombro underwent emergency surgery shortly after being struck in the head by a line drive during a start for Triple-A Durham last Thursday. He’s obviously got a long road to recovery ahead of him, but the outlook appears to be good at the moment. “He’s continuing to progress,” general manager Erik Neander said. “(The doctors) seem optimistic with how everything is going.”

Rays RHP prospect Tyler Zombro could be released from the hospital within the week.
That according to Zombro’s mom. The right-hander continues to make progress after undergoing brain surgery at Duke University following being struck in the head by a line drive last Thursday. There’s still a long recovery ahead, but the fact that Zombro could be heading home soon is obviously outstanding news.

The Rays said in a statement Friday that pitching prospect Tyler Zombro (head) “remains in stable condition” and that “updates from overnight have been positive.”
Awesome news to hear. Zombro was struck in the head by a line drive while pitching for Triple-A Durham on Thursday, forcing the suspension of a game against Norfolk. The 26-year-old will remain at Duke University Hospital for care and observation.

Rays minor leaguer Tyler Zombro was hit in the head by a line drive while pitching Thursday night, causing the Durham Bulls’ game to be halted.
This was a really, really bad one. The 26-year-old Zombro was carted off after being down for several minutes and was taken to the hospital. The game against Norfolk never resumed afterwards. We’re hoping he’s okay.
