De La Cruz is a 17-year-old who ranked as the Cubs’ No. 17 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He’s a switch hitter with big power upside who is hitting .262/.442/.417 in the Dominican Summer League with nine steals and a 24/26 K/BB ratio.
