Wilson Alvarez, who didn’t believe his body would allow him to be a full-time starting pitcher last year, feels physically prepared to contend for a rotation spot this year.
Alvarez will compete with Kazuhisa Ishii, Edwin Jackson and Elmer Dessens for the lone vacancy in the Dodger rotation. It’s likely that he’ll begin the year in the pen, but he’d still be a candidate to make 15-20 starts. He’d be a nice late-round pick in NL-only leagues.
