    Pirates released RHP Wily Peralta.
This should have been done the moment the has-been threw at Pete Crow-Armstrong’s head (two pitches after throwing behind him) during Indianapolis’s game against Iowa last month. But it seemed the Pirates were OK with that. They weren’t OK after he gave up eight runs in his last two appearances, taking his Triple-A ERA to 7.44.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #38
Pirates signed RHP Wily Peralta to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Peralta was surprisingly successful for the Tigers in 2021 (3.07 ERA in 94 IP as a starter) and 2022 (2.58 ERA in 38 IP as a reliever), but he wound up 3-8 with a 6.31 ERA in 24 starts for the Nationals’ Triple-A affiliate and never saw the majors last season. He’ll probably return to Triple-A for the beginning of this year.

Nationals reassigned RHP’s Alex Colomé, Andrés Machado and Wily Peralta to minor league camp.
It’s a bit surprising that at least one of this trio didn’t end up making the Nationals’ Opening Day roster. Colomé figured to have the best shot after signing a minor league contract back in late January.

Nationals signed RHP Wily Peralta to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Peralta compiled a strong 2.93 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 90/62 K/BB ratio across 132 innings (47 appearances, 19 starts) over the last two seasons for the Tigers and will compete this spring for a spot on the Nationals’ season-opening roster. The 33-year-old right-hander is likely to experience some regression from a run-prevention standpoint, but he should be a solid innings-eater for Washington if he makes the Opening Day roster in a long relief role.

    Tigers released RHP Wily Peralta.
Peralta went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last weekend by the Tigers and will test the free agent waters rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Toledo. The 33-year-old veteran right-hander has recorded a solid 2.93 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 90/62 K/BB ratio across 132 innings (47 appearances, 19 starts) over the last two seasons for Detroit.

Tigers designated RHP Wily Peralta for assignment.
With Eduardo Rodriguez returning from the restricted list on Friday, someone had to be bumped from the Tigers bullpen to free up a spot and it looks like Peralta drew the short straw this time around. The 33-year-old posted a 2.58 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 32/24 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings with the Tigers this season. He could attract interest on waivers.

Tigers activated RHP Wily Peralta from the 15-day injured list.
Recovered from a left hamstring strain, Peralta will be back in Detroit’s bullpen on Wednesday.

Wily Peralta (hamstring) tossed a scoreless inning on Sunday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo.
Peralta is working his way back from a significant left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list back in early July. He’s trending towards a return to the Tigers’ relief core sometime in early August.

Wily Peralta (hamstring) struck out three batters in a rehab inning Wednesday with Triple-A Toledo.
Peralta even got the save for the Mud Hens in their win over the Triple-A affiliate of the Pirates. Recovered from a severe left hamstring strain, the 33-year-old could return to the Tigers’ bullpen as soon as this weekend. He had a 2.16 ERA through 33 1/3 innings of work with Detroit when he landed on the injured list back on July 6.

Tigers manager AJ Hinch told reporters that Wily Peralta’s hamstring strain is between a Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Hinch said that Peralta will miss “significant” time with the injury, and doesn’t expect the hurler to be back this month. There wasn’t much fantasy significance here, anyway, but Peralta will now be a player that won’t help the Tigers until the middle of August, it appears.
