Braves signed INF Yolbert Sanchez to a minor league contract.
Sanchez was considered a top-30 prospect in the White Sox’ system the last few years, but has yet to reach the big leagues. The 26-year-old Cuban native batted .271/.321/.333 with three homers and six steals in 445 plate appearances last year for Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll serve as extra infield depth for the Braves at Triple-A Gwinnett to open 2024.

Cuban shortstop Yolbert Sanchez is eligible to sign with MLB teams beginning Tuesday.
It’s unclear whether he’ll sign with a team soon or wait until the new international signing period begins on July 2. The Orioles still have close to $6 million in international spending money and have shown heavy interest in Sanchez, who turns 22 in March. Per Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, the Cuban shortstop is believed to be major-league ready with the glove right now and profiles to be an average to above-average runner.

Cuban shortstop Yolbert Sanchez worked out for the Orioles this week, per Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.
The 21-year-old infielder just became eligible to sign with a major league team and it sounds like there could very well be a fit with the Orioles, who have a league-high $6 million to spend on the international market in this current signing period. He could also decide to wait until the next signing period (July 2) to talk with other organizations, but MLB.com Pipeline says the Orioles are in the Dominican Republic right now and may be discussing a deal with Sanchez.
