Veteran crew chief Tony Eury Jr. has done a great deal in his NASCAR career, working in both the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series as crew chief for several drivers including Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Danica Patrick.

But Eury will have a rookie stripe of sorts this Wednesday, as he will make his Modified crew chief debut on one of the sport’s biggest stages, Bristol Motor Speedway.

Eury will call the signals and strategy for driver Todd Szegedy for Rob Fuller Motorsports/LFR Chassis in the Bush Beans 150 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race. Eury is also competition director at LFR Chassis.

“After getting to know Todd, I am excited to be his crew chief in Bristol,” Eury said in a media release. “I think we have a legitimate shot to win, and we’re going to have some fun with it as well.

“We are going in with a game plan, but I might bring a few ideas to the table that we can try and see what happens!”

With Eury in his corner, Szegedy has a good chance to continue his past success on Bristol’s high-banked, .533-mile layout. In seven previous starts there, Szegedy has three runner-up finishes, plus a top five.

“Bristol is my favorite track,” Szegedy said. “I want to go there, get the pole and then win the race – it’s that simple. I think we are capable of doing just that with the equipment (team owner Rob Fuller) provides.”

In addition to having Eury in his corner, Szegedy, who will drive the No. 15 car, will have a well-known teammate: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Newman, who will pilot the No. 7ny car.

In seven Modified starts at Bristol, Newman has two wins and three other top fives. Fuller will serve as crew chief for Newman.
